STATE GAMES OF AMERICA A SUCCESS IN LYNCHBURG!

More than 14,000 athletes from nearly all 50 states competed in this year’s games at Liberty University from July 31 to Aug. 4. Athletes of all ages competed in 40 different sports from figure skating to baseball to karate and brought an $8 million to $10 million boost to the Lynchburg economy.

One of our guests at the COMFORT INN & SUITES in Lynchburg, Yvette Revilla from Corpus Christi, Texas was featured on WSLS Television: https://www.wsls.com/news/virginia/lynchburg/state-games-of-america-wraps-up-its-run-in-lynchburg

“Our boys and girls have all worked really hard,” said Yvette Revilla, the coach of a south Texas swim team who came to Lynchburg to compete. “We’re a big state and we have big hearts, so our swimmers have big goals.”

Revilla says this is the first time many members of her team have traveled outside Texas for any reason. She says the competition left her team with a good impression of Virginia.

“Everything has been perfect, honestly,” Revilla said. “Everything has been beyond our expectations. That has made it a great trip in itself.”

Regarding their stay at the COMFORT INN & SUITES in Lynchburg she added, “The staff was AMAZING Steve and David made us feel so welcomed and as if we were at home. We have stayed in six different hotels this year and have NEVER felt so at home and welcomed. I absolutely loved these two gentlemen. Their personalities the moment those glass doors opened they were happy, loving, and inviting. I can go on and on about them both.”

RANKED # 4 NATIONALLY WITH OVER 1,000 REVIEWS!

This week our COMFORT INN & SUITES in Lynchburg, Virginia reached a milestone with our 1,000 Guest Reviews since we opened in 2015! Our hotel is honored to achieve a “FIVE STAR OVERALL RATING” with 98% approval rating. We are currently ranked as the #4 Hotel within the Comfort brand nationally (out of 1,004 hotels) by Choice Hotels.

To highlight this achievement, I would like to feature our 1,000th review which was completed by Merlann Malloy from Patton, Pennsylvania who stayed with us July 30th thru August 3rd

“I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT MY STAY!” Merlann Malloy – Patton, Pennsylvanis

On arrival I was greeted by Brian and David. Talk about a dynamic duo. I was weary but they soon got me uplifted and energized. They are true examples of Southern Hospitality making sure I felt comfortable and at home.

The next morning I came in contact with the Breakfast buffet hostess Theresa who was so very kind and making sure I had everything I needed and went out of her way to ask how I felt and how I was doing each morning. Heather the buffet hostess my last morning was also very friendly and kind.

Moving along to the rest of the team that I met on an early AM departure Ameliah and Jim were fabulous and so helpful. They provided info for me about local sights and showed concern about my visit making sure I had everything I needed for the day. Ameliah was also on duty later in the week. She and all the staff are so upbeat and helpful. Their main goal is to make the visitor happy and feel at home. Ameliah made sure I had brochures and info on all the sights in the area. She even pulled up on FB the local TV station for me to view an interview they did after my nephew won a Gold Medal at the Figure Skating competition.

I then met Steve who was on duty the rest of the week evenings. He also is the greatest with a smile that just lights up a room. I spent 2 extra nights beyond my scheduled departure date because everyone was so helpful and kind. I felt like family that needed to see and do everything that was available in the “City of Lynchburg “.

I cannot forget Sabrina who took care of my room making sure it was nice and clean each day. The room was spotless. She also was very friendly always greeting me and asking how I was doing.

Disney is noted as a happy place which it is with the rides, entertainment and the happy characters. Let me tell you your property rates right up there without all the fluff of Disney as a Happy Place. Your staff knows the importance of customer satisfaction like no other.

I was really impressed with David and Steve the evening of a severe storm. A young couple with a young child arrived to check in without a reservation I’m assuming they just couldn’t drive anymore in the storm. David worked real hard to get them reasonable comfortable accommodations while Steve opened the kitchen to get the little girl a banana. That was all they wanted. You could tell the parents were tired and just needed to rest. Well your two boys made them feel so welcome and did all they could to provide comfort to this family. This was so heartwarming to me as a bystander observing all this while I was waiting to extend my stay. I was impressed by my treatment but to observe their compassion dealing with others was something else.

Whatever your secret for customer satisfaction is don’t change it. You’re # 1.

Merlann Malloy – Malvern, Pennsylvania

Local Comfort Inn and Suites Recognized for Outstanding Service; Wins 3rd Consecutive Platinum Award 2017 – 2019

In speaking with Brian Knopp of COMFORT INN & SUITES (located on Route 29 in Campbell County near Lynchburg Airport), it is soon apparent that hospitality services to him and his staff embodies more than managing a hotel – it is an expression of their passion to care for others and a dedication to making each guest feel like family.

“We take the time to get to know our guests personally,” said Knopp. “Our brand says ‘comfort’, but it’s more than that. It’s sincerely caring for each guest and going above and beyond to make that connection with them.”

Serving in tourism and the hospitality industry for decades, Knopp approaches hotel management from the perspective of supportive leadership, humble service as well as seeking and developing the natural gifts and talents of his team. Their collective efforts have secured the Comfort Inn & Suites the prestigious “2019 Platinum Award” from Choice Hotels International, Inc., (NYSE: CHH), franchisor of the Comfort brand. The “Platinum Award” designation goes only to the top hotels within the brand and the Comfort Inn & Suites – Lynchburg is the only hotel in Virginia to be recognized with this honor.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for us and is a tribute to our staff,” said Dave and Susan Francis, owners of the Comfort Inn & Suites. “As one of the top-tier properties operating under the Comfort Inn flag, the hotel’s staff has demonstrated an exceptional focus on guest satisfaction and dedication to superior service.”

This is the third consecutive year that the Comfort Inn & Suites has received this honor. In addition, the hotel has been ranked as the #1 Hotel in Lynchburg (out of 25 hotels) on TripAdvisor, the world’s leading travel site, receiving the “TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence”. The hotel was also recently recognized as the “Best Hotel in Virginia under $200” by msn.com.

“We focus continually on the three C’s – Caring, Cleanliness, and Comfort, – these are at the core of our success,” said Knopp. “Even beyond those fundamentals, we also have a strong desire to support our community and our fellow co-workers.” The Comfort Inn and Suites team dedicated their time and efforts toward honoring veterans, recognizing local law enforcement with a Waffle Day breakfast, and assisting with veterinary care and safe relocation of animals stranded along the Route 29 corridor. “It’s about being a part of this community and helping others that really sets us apart.”

Even with a positive leadership philosophy and a focused customer-service approach, the hospitality industry, like any other, faces challenges and changing trends. “There is always a need for workers trained in hospitality services,” said Knopp. “We have a great team, but it’s always hard to replace good staff when they move on to other opportunities. We also have a lot of local competition for staffing as well as seasonal occupancy.” Knopp encourages those entering the workforce to consider community college programs in hospitality as a good place to start.

“There’s tremendous job satisfaction in making others feels at home in our community. We’re proud to offer that experience and make it the best it can possibly be for our guests and employees.”

The Comfort hotels brand continues its United States expansion with new hotels opening this year from coast to coast. These hotels are the latest to showcase the new Comfort logo, unveiled last May as a capstone to the brand’s multi-year transformation. More than 700 Comfort hotels already feature the elevated look and feel. In addition, more than 170 hotels have installed new signs, while over 450 hotels are in the process of obtaining new signage.

“The renewed Comfort brand appeals to developers and a wide range of guests across the U.S.,” said Anne Smith, vice president, brand management, design and compliance, Choice Hotels.

COMFORT BRAND UNVIELS NEW LOGO!

New Comfort Inn & Suites Logo
New Look Symbolizes the Brand’s Bold Transformation

The Comfort brand revealed a new logo today to thousands of franchisees at Choice Hotels’ annual convention. The unveiling marks an important milestone for the brand which has been experiencing a renaissance since committing to change seven years ago.

“This redesigned logo serves as a beacon for the new Comfort. It’s more than a change of symbol, it’s a symbol of change,” said Anne Smith, vice president, brand management and design, Choice Hotels. “From new lobbies to upgraded guest rooms, Comfort hotels are being renovated across the country to deliver a more consistent, up-to-date guest experience. Together with our owners, we will have invested $2.5 billion in the Comfort brand by the end of 2019.”

Landor, a brand consulting and design agency based in New York City, created the logo which features vivid orange and yellow hues, and a rich blue color for the Comfort name.

“The design of the new logo reflects the brand’s warm and welcoming heritage and its refreshed, modern look and feel,” said Megan Brumagim, head of Comfort brands, Choice Hotels. “It’s the capstone of our transformation, inviting guests to check out the new Comfort.”

The new logo also represents an important shift for the brand across its locations, unifying the Comfort Inn, Comfort Inn & Suites, and Comfort Suites brands as one brand family, the way guests perceive them, according to consumer research.

The brand’s transformative journey began in 2012 with a review of all properties which resulted in the bold decision to exit more than 600 properties that were not up to increased brand standards. The brand then introduced Move to Modern, an initiative focused on property upgrades, and announced Comfort as the largest 100 percent smoke-free hotel brand in North America. Guests can expect all Comfort properties across the United States to have completed their renovations and updated their signage by the end of 2020.

These efforts have fortified the brand’s position as a leader in the upper midscale segment with over 1,800 properties across North America.

“The Comfort brand is unstoppable,” said Brian Quinn, head of development, new construction brands, Choice Hotels. “Comfort now has one of the largest pipelines in its history, with nearly 300 properties, 80 percent of which are new construction. With our commitment to the brand, strong value proposition and tremendous return on investment, we continue to attract developers and owners to build Comfort hotels across the country.”
